DNS Manager User Guide

We provide free DNS Hosting for all domain names registered with us. Our DNS Manager is designed to make managing DNS records fast, intuitive, and reliable.

Whether you need to set up basic A or MX records, or configure services like Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, this guide will walk you through the process step-by-step.

Who Can Use DNS Hosting?

DNS Hosting is available at no cost to all customers who have registered their domain names with us.

Accessing the DNS Manager

  1. Log in to your customer account Dashboard.

  2. Hover your mouse over the Domains tab in the left navigation bar.

  3. Click DNS Manager from the expanded menu.

Creating a New DNS Zone

Before you can manage records for a domain, you need to create a DNS zone.

To create a DNS zone:

  1. Click Add DNS Zone.

  2. Select the domain name you want to manage from the dropdown list.

  3. A default IP address will be pre-filled. This is a placeholder and can be changed to the actual IP address your domain should point to after creating the zone.

  4. Click Confirm to create the DNS zone.

Once created, your DNS zone will appear in the DNS Manager, ready for configuration.

Editing DNS Records

To manage your DNS records:

  1. Locate your domain in the DNS Manager.

  2. Click the Pencil icon next to the DNS zone to open the record editor.

By default, each new DNS zone includes a few essential records such as:

  • A Record – Points the domain to a default IP.

  • MX Record – Used for email routing.

  • CNAME Record – Used for domain aliasing.

These default records can be edited or deleted as needed. You can also add new records to suit your requirements.

Adding New DNS Records

To add a new DNS record:

  1. In the DNS zone editor, click Add Record.

  2. Complete the following fields:

    • Type – Select the type of record (e.g., A, MX, CNAME, TXT).

    • Name – Enter the domain name, e.g., example.mu.
Note: Be sure to include the full stop (.) at the end.

    • TTL (Time to Live) – Defines how long the record is cached by DNS resolvers. You can leave this as default or adjust it as needed.

  3. Click Save to add the record.

You can repeat this process for any number of records, depending on your needs.

Common Use Cases

Google Workspace Setup
To use your domain with Google Workspace, you'll need to add the necessary MX, TXT, and possibly CNAME records. Google provides these in their admin console during setup.

Microsoft 365 Setup
To configure email and other services with Microsoft 365, you'll be prompted to add MX, TXT, and CNAME records. These will also be provided directly in Microsoft's setup instructions.

Simply copy the values provided by Google or Microsoft and paste them into the corresponding fields in your DNS zone.

Editing or Deleting Existing Records

To update or remove a DNS record:

  1. In the DNS zone editor, find the record you want to change.

  2. Click the Pencil icon to edit or the Trash icon to delete.

  3. Save your changes.

Changes are applied immediately on our end, but global DNS propagation may take anywhere from a few minutes to 24–48 hours, depending on the TTL and other caching factors.

Our Nameservers

For your DNS zone to function correctly, your domain must be using our nameservers. If different nameservers are applied to the domain, the DNS zone created in our system will not be active and any records added will have no effect.

Please ensure the following nameservers are set for your domain:

ns1.cloud.mu
ns2.cloud.mu
ns3.cloud.mu

You can update your domain's nameservers by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Domains > My Domains.

  3. Click Manage next to the domain you wish to update.

  4. Select the Nameservers tab.

  5. Enter the nameservers listed above and save your changes.

Changes to nameservers may take some time to propagate across the internet (typically within a few hours, but up to 24–48 hours in some cases).
